Symptoms of Morton’s Neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is one of the many conditions Dr. Reed can help with. Morton’s neuroma (a.k.a intermetatarsal neuroma) is a painful condition that affects the foot. This occurs when the tissue around a nerve thickens and presses on the nerve going to the toe. If you have pressure on a nerve, you will feel pain. Other than pain, some symptoms may include numbness and tingling, although, some people may not have any symptoms at all! Morton’s neuroma is often associated with flat feet, high arches, bunions, and hammer toes. It can also be associated with certain types of activities, such as repetitive sport actions or sports that require tight shoes.

Persistent Foot Pain

If you have persistent foot pain, it may be time to see a doctor. At your consultation with Dr. Reed, he will evaluate your specific situation and order the necessary imaging tests to confirm your diagnosis and proceed with the proper course of action. Conservative treatments may include physical therapy, stretching, massaging the foot, exercising and rest. Other treatment options include off-loading the nerve and cortisone injections. When conservative options do not provide enough relief, you may be a candidate for surgical intervention, which involves removing the symptomatic portion of the nerve. Dr. Reed provides both surgical and non-surgical treatments of nerve disorders, such as Morton’s neuroma. Dr. Reed will be able to give you the guidance, advice, and treatment to help you return to a pain-free, fully functional life as soon as possible.
